Course Narrative
This class met MLO 1 - 4. I was able to sharpen my oral and writing skills in this class as we were introduced to several types of writing such as expository, informative, persuasive and descriptive via texts of literature, film and culture. This course helped me to enhance my vocabulary and in problematic areas in grammar. The exercises we worked on made it easier to do as the topics were familiar. For example, some exercises included the analyzing of poems like one called, "Mexican-American Disambiguation" by Jose Olivarez (which I thoroughly enjoyed) and a story called, “La siesta del martes” by one of my favorite authors, Gabriel García Márquez (please click this link > La siesta to view an analysis of this story. Additionally, Dr. Oliva taught narrative techniques which helped us develop an essay. I wrote an essay on euthanasia (please refer to the link below).
