Course Narrative
In this class I gained insight on Hispanic literature in the peninsular Spain. I learned about the literary movements such as, The Enlightenment and author of the epoch, Alfonso X the Wise who wrote Siete partidas (The Seven Divisions of Law). Interesting were the history, and the lives and works of authors like Federico García Lorca, who wrote, “Romancero Gitano” and Ana María Matute who wrote, “La chusma.” My favorite novella was Lazarillo de Tormes because it described the misfortunes of a character from boyhood to adulthood in a picaresque manner. Lazarillo learns to adapt in difficult situations even if the experience is not morally sound. I looked forward to attending class because our professor, Dr. Gómez, made the class fun, engaging and enjoyable by interjecting humor making it easier to learn the literature lessons.
Below is a link to a power point demonstrating the completion of this MLO; it serves as an example of interpersonal, interpretive and presentation skills. The power point is about Modernism – a literary movement - which I collaborated with a couple peers to present in front of the professor and the class. Because of the higher language expectancy of these kind of classes, Seeking to understand tough works of literature or other assignments is something I look forward doing. Now, I create and seize opportunities to implement language proficiency whenever I speak Spanish.
